I really do like the local news coverage, and it’s frustrating because I want to keep using it. But between all the ads and constantly running into the paywall, it starts to feel more annoying than helpful. I get that they need to make money, but as a reader it just makes the experience feel interrupted and a little discouraging

I signed up for the OC Register mostly because I wanted better local coverage, and overall I’d say it’s been worth the cost. The price isn’t bad, and the app works fine most of the time, though it does have the occasional annoying hiccup. I do find myself reading it enough to justify keeping the subscription, even if there are a few things that could be smoother

my experience with ocregister.com customer service was just okay. I reached out about my subscription and it took longer than I expected to hear back. Once someone finally responded, they were nice and did get the issue fixed, but I had to follow up first. It wasn’t a terrible experience or anything, just average. A faster response would make a big difference.

Billing was fine overall, and I didn’t really have any issues there. But when it came time to cancel, you end up having to make too many calls, which got annoying...

I end up checking Orange County Register a few times a week, usually when I’m wondering what’s happening around Orange County, or when I see traffic and want to know if there’s a reason for it. The local coverage is good. They’ll have city updates, school stuff, crime reports, road closures, little community things that don’t always show up on the bigger news sites. Some stories feel a bit short, but I don’t always need a huge deep dive anyway. It’s easy to skim, and then I’ll click into something random, like a council decision or a neighborhood issue I didn’t even know about. Overall, it does a solid job keeping me in the loop on local OC news

The paper shows up right on time every morning, even when it’s pouring rain around here.

I’ve been using the app and, it works well. It’s easy enough to figure out, and I haven’t really had any major issues so far.
